What to Look For
- 4K front / 1080p rear minimum
- WiFi app connectivity for video transfer
- GPS logging (nice to have for speed evidence)
- Night vision - check user samples, many are bad
- Loop recording with collision detection
My recommendation: Look for the “70mai” brand. Same company that makes Mi Dash Cam, available at a fraction of the price with similar quality.
Installation Tip
Most dash cams use a USB-to-Cig lighter adapter for power. For cleaner install, hardwire kits ($8-15) connect directly to the fuse box. Easier than you’d think if you can identify a switched fuse.
Car Phone Mounts
Magnetic air vent mounts are $5-10. Wireless charging mounts with auto-clamp are $20-35.
Skip: Suction cup mounts that fall in summer heat. The adhesive ones that stick to the dashboard work better.
Floor Mats
WeatherTech-style all-weather mats run $40-60 versus $150-250 for the brand name. Get the laser-measured ones for your exact car model if available.
Warning: Universal fit mats often don’t stay in place properly. Factory-fit or vehicle-specific molds are worth the slightly higher price.
Car Organizers
Trunk organizers, backseat organizers, and console caddies are genuinely good buys. A quality trunk organizer with dividers runs $20-30 versus $50-60 at auto stores.
Things That Disappointed
- Cheap LED interior lights: Poor color accuracy, sometimes arrives non-functional
- Fake carbon fiber trim: Looks cheap in person
- Universal seat covers: Fit is always slightly off
Things That Impressed
- Microfiber cleaning cloths: 10-pack for $8 works better than $30 store brands
- Tire pressure gauges: Digital ones under $15 are accurate
- Emergency car kits: Comprehensive kits with jumper cables, first aid, triangles run $25-40

AliExpress has good options for:
